What should my baby's poo look like?

When babies are first born they will pass meconium which is a dark black/green poo that is very sticky and looks like tar. By day five, a breastfed baby should have a mustard/yellow poo, however formula-fed babies might have more of a green/brown poo which can also be a little more solid. Formula-fed babies usually poo every day or second day. Poos may be formed but should not be hard and difficult to pass. Once solids are introduced, a baby’s poo will change to brown.
